Steve Reich - Pulses. Circa 1974. Heard about Reich on this podcast who is featured in this book about music and the events which transpired in New York in the early 70’s. I love this sound, and the fact that it was made with real instruments. Minimalism, I understand is abstract and obscure. But the effort to maintain strict symmetry within the confines of repetition and a single chord, very much like the aesthetics of geometry, can reward something beautiful.
